School Spotlight: West Catholic Preparatory High School, Philadelphia PA

West Catholic Preparatory High School has seen a surge in school enrollment, and has received two large grants to enhance its Engineering Technology Academy and to launch the De La Salle Academic Support Program. This exciting time reflects not only the school’s commitment to academic excellence but also the strong trust and confidence that the community places in its educational environment.

School Enrollment
: In the 2023/2024 Academic Year, West Catholic Preparatory High School opened its doors to its largest incoming class and overall school enrollment since 2008. This remarkable class of incoming freshmen, totaling 154 students, not only signifies the appeal of the school’s educational environment but also underscores the value West Catholic Prep brings to the local community. “The unprecedented enrollment this year reflects the trust parents and students place in our commitment to fostering a dynamic learning atmosphere, coupled with our support of the socio-emotional needs of our students,” says President Andrew Brady.

Engineering Technology Academy: At its core, the Engineering Technology Academy embodies a vision of interdisciplinary education, blending theoretical knowledge with practical application. Developed in tandem with Drexel University, this program equips students with the tools they need to navigate complex challenges and forge pathways to success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Through generous support from the Howley Foundation, the Engineering Technology Academy is realizing significant advancement in expanded partnerships, facility enhancements, curriculum assessment, and program growth.

De La Salle Academic Support Program: West Catholic Prep has received a grant from the Connelly Foundation to launch the De La Salle Academic Support Program. The launch will include comprehensive renovations of a dedicated academic and support facility space, the hiring of a Program Director, and integration of cutting-edge individualized technology components that complement an innovative curriculum. The school will also rename its Learning Commons to the Connelly Center for Academic Excellence.
